My approach to psychological therapy: I approach therapy as a collaborative relationship between therapist and client where I offer empathy, understanding, observations, suggestions and a place to explore one's experience in life. I view the client as the expert on her/his own experience and greatly appreciate a client's openness. I will help clients to make connections to current life issues and patterns across the life-span.  I will also gently challenge and encourage change when a client is ready. My relationship with clients is very important to me; I hope to use the therapeutic relationship to foster trust, safety, and deeper relationships in clients' lives. The type of therapy that I practice is a mix of humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and interpersonal therapies.  My practice is mostly individual therapy with adults (occasionally I see couples). I consider myself a generalist psychologist, though my training and experience has often focused on dealing with depression, anxiety, and interpersonal problems.
