L. Megan Gregor is an independent clinician working out of 141 East Fairmount Avenue, a home of psychotherapy practitioners. Megan is flexible and open-minded when developing a treatment plan with a client, most often drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Above all she is sensitive to the client’s immediate concerns and focuses on strengths to achieve progress toward treatment goals. Her previous work in the field has given her broad insight and a multi-faceted background.
While earning her graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from VCU, Megan worked as a counselor in a group home for previously homeless people living with chronic mental illnesses and substance abuse issues. In later positions, Megan provided adherence counseling for Fairfax County Public Health Clinics, assisted with writing Ryan White CARE Act grants, and worked as an Outreach Advocate for people living with intellectual disabilities in Loudoun County. With these firm roots in macro social work, Megan branched out to provide individual care within more acute settings.
At the Inova Keller Day Treatment Center, Megan provided individual, family, and group outpatient therapy for adolescents and children in crisis. Her work honed in on expressive, engaging forms of therapy like art, play, and sand, as they proved to be most effective. Megan then utilized these techniques as a school social worker for a public elementary school in Alexandria, VA.
As a licensed clinical social worker in State College, PA, Megan worked for two years as an independent practitioner for Beck Psychotherapy. She is now in private practice at 141 Fairmount. Megan is EMDRIA certified in the trauma-informed therapy method of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
In each of the diverse clinical settings that Megan has worked within, compassion and humor have been invaluable to therapeutic success. Clients working with Megan feel heard and valued, and can trust that their improved health is worth heartfelt pursuit.
